## Description
IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. - is currently hiring for a Buyer to plan, manage and execute the acquisition of Raw Materials and Purchased Finished Goods for assigned Products. Originate and maintain supplier purchase orders and delivery schedules. Maintain good relationships with external suppliers and internal customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Perform one or more of the following functions:
Originate and place purchase orders (PO's), communicate with Suppliers and manage Supplier delivery dates
Utilize SAP/MRP computer system and maintain appropriate inventory.
Troubleshoot problems and questions regarding purchases, suppliers, etc.
Identify, resolve, and recommend solutions to problems.
Work with suppliers negotiating and resolving schedules, inventory levels, shortages and other material issues.
Understand LOB purchasing needs and inventory; enhance buying decisions and buying process based on those needs
Develop and implement strategies to leverage the optimum prices and delivery schedules. Negotiate lead times and price as needed.
Develop and continually learn, grow and strengthen individual capabilities, staying current with best practices.
May train, mentor and coach others and/or direct work of others.
May facilitate, create and/or direct the use of a structured, process-oriented and quality-driven approach to the acquisition of Raw Materials and Purchased Finished Goods.
## Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
APICS certification preferred.
Experience:
4
years of purchasing or related business experience preferred.
Background in Biologics or Chemistry preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Solid negotiation skills with working knowledge of negotiation tactics and techniques
Solid working knowledge of SAP/MRP system and scheduling concepts
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
