Job Description:
The incumbent will serve as a key thought leader for the evolution of BI capabilities through the use of SAP BW technology. Responsible for leading the technical implementation of the EDW strategic direction leveraging SAP Business Warehouse and Business Intelligence (BO) capabilities. Provide solutions architecture oversight for new development projects in support of Client?s Global Business Intelligence (BI) program, according to agreed upon scope, timelines and budget, while following accepted programming, testing and change control standards and accepted business intelligence technology best practices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the global Business Intelligence technology strategy leveraging SAP Business Warehouse & Business Intelligence 4.0 (BO Enterprise; BEX/BICS, Design Studio, Crystal, Web Intelligence, Dashboards( Xcelsius), Analysis, Explorer and Mobile.
Lead design and development of SAP BW modeling and associated business warehouse information model to enable cross functional operational reporting and corporate performance optimization.
Own overall responsibility for the BW data modeling for non-SAP data sources.
Provide oversight of Global SAP Business Intelligence architecture and work with cross teams to build and maintain environments.
Define, implement, and monitor operational measures for improving BI program quality, throughput, and solution delivery and architecture/infrastructure effectiveness.
Ensure a global, secure, scalable and extendable BI platform that is high performing and optimized for large data volumes.
Develop BW & BI standards, processes, and procedures for consistent execution and administration.
Maintain Development and Transport Procedures throughout Architecture Reviews and approvals in order to guarantee that Best Practices are always maintained.
Model and build SAP BO metadata and architecture.
Load data warehouse systems from different source system; Oracle database, flat files or tables using SAP SLT Replication Server and other standard extraction tools.
Design and build Extraction, Transformations, and Loading (ETL) through SAP BO Data Services for both SAP and non-SAP data.
Review Technical Designs developed by other team members.
Mentoring team members on BW & BI.
Develop unit, integration, and performance test plans. Regression plans should also be developed for cross reference developments.
Provides performance baselines; Monitor system performance and tune for peak performance.
Research and implement new technologies to increase productivity and/or drive resolution of performance related issues with SAP BW/BI environments.
Act as a technical consultant for the SAP team and internal business teams; Serves as an expert (SME: Subject Matter Expert) in technical field of knowledge.
Review and provides input into user acceptance test plans as appropriate.
Provide resource plans and timelines for complex work requests.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Typically 5-7 years related experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Expert level experience, 5-7 years, working with medium to large size SAP BW/BI environments.
Expert level experience, 5-7 years, working with Business Objects Business Intelligence systems design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Strong experience in SAP BW 7.3 modeling for both SAP & non-SAP systems based data modeling, data acquisition and BW Security.
Must have BW & BI Architecture experience
Must have strong ABAP Knowledge to develop necessary coding in data acquisition.
Knowledge in SAP SLT Replication Server.
Expert knowledge of Oracle/SQL.
Thorough understanding of Business Intelligence 4.0 product suite including - BO Enterprise, BEx Query Designer, WAD, Design Studio, OLAP Universes, Web Intelligence, Crystal, Dashboards(Xcelsius), Analysis, Explorer, Mobile, Data Federator; Data Services; Metadata Management.
Strong interpersonal and communication (written & oral) skills.
Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Strong influencing and leadership skills.
Self-driven, motivated, team player.
Results and action oriented.
Expert troubleshooting skills
Strong ability to identify and implement design, architectural, and process improvements.
Ability to gather business requirements and conduct necessary analysis to determine required BI technical work.
Experience with technologies for managing very large database/data warehouses including indexes, statistics, compression, partitioning and data deletion to all applicable BI objects.
Strong BI and data warehouse conceptual thinking.
Experience in advanced analytics is preferred, e.g. corporate performance management, executive dashboards, scorecards, alerts, subscription push reporting, predictive analysis, etc.
